GOING GREEN IS JUST A PUSH OF A BUTTON

GOING GREEN IS JUST A PUSH OF A BUTTON

Honda Canada is on never-ending mission to reduce vehicle emissions and aims to electrify two-thirds of its global auto sales by 2030 to help accomplish that. However, there are many things that can be done on gas-powered vehicles in Honda’s lineup today to help environmentally. One way Honda accomplishes this, and makes it easier for drivers to help in the effort, is making the Honda ECON Mode standard on all vehicles.

By pressing this little green ECON button, you can save gas by slightly changing how the vehicle operates.

How Does It Work?

Throttle: The throttle response is affected in the middle range. This means that the beginning and end range are not affected but you’ll feel a difference at highway speeds. Pressing down on the gas pedal won’t accelerate the vehicle as quickly

Cruise Control: While ECON Mode is engaged, the transmission in cruise control won’t shift down as quickly. This can be easily seen while driving up a hill as the vehicle may slow down until it reaches the crest of the hill to save on fuel.

AC: While in ECON Mode, the air compressor will turn on and off more frequently to save fuel, however, this means it might take longer to cool down the vehicle.

Transmission: The transmission changes the shift points in order to be more fuel efficient while in ECON Mode.

To know if ECON Mode is engaged, look for the little green leaf on the dash.
